Today, just a picture.
Each time a request comes in, I handwrite it on an index card. We can (and we will) argue all day long about the time I'm wasting or the confusion I'm creating by writing by hand what has been answered on a Google form, but I never want to forget that a mom asked for a small heater for her two year old daughter or a man who served our Army in Afghanistan asked for two pink and two white toothbrushes or a grandma raising her grandchildren alone after tragedy struck asked for flour, rice and salt. I always want to remember the gut punch when I read "I am looking for a job, need some mental health resources and a car seat." So, I'll keep writing and handing these index cards to the volunteers that fill the store, lovingly packing boxes and connecting with families. Thanks for bein’ here, friends.
Hi Maya, Do you have need for volunteers. My 14 yo daughter and I’d like to help! Thanks.
Thank you for continuing to dirve LCC forward. Would it help you to have grocery gift cards on hand to give to the families, so they can shop themselves? Or do you need someone to do grocery shopping for the food items each week? If so, happy to help with either one.
